This grafting ribbon is used for budding. For this type of grafting, it is useful to be able to use a fairly tight bond combined with good insulation to prevent water leaks : this tape is useful because it is waterproof, which insulates the cut, and it is rigid to keep the graft immobile without it moving.

Another interesting feature of this tape is that the adhesive on the inside is photosensitive; in a short space of time, the sun inactivates it and the tape falls off by itself, once the graft has taken root.
