Portable waterproof LDO oximeter, with HI 764113 O2/°C optical probe, Quick DIN connector, 4 m cable
HI98198 is supplied in a case with a HI 764113 O2/°C optical probe with Quick DIN connector and 4 m cable, 1 protective sleeve for the probe, 2 100 mL beakers, zero oxygen solution, 1.8 m USB type-C cable and batteries.
The HI764113 optical probe is based on the extinction of the luminescence of an oxygen-sensitive phosphor. The measuring principle comprises an inert platinum phosphor whose luminescence is triggered by a blue LED (the so-called excitation diode) and a red LED which serves as a reference element. The implusion of blue light by the blue LED triggers luminescence, and the electrons in the phosphor rise sharply in energy level, which then falls again in a few microseconds, emitting the lost energy in the form of red light. The oxygen molecules in contact with the phosphor absorb the electron energy, reducing the intensity and duration of the red light emitted. This extinction phenomenon is measured by the photodetector and converted into dissolved oxygen concentrations using the reference red LED. The faster the extinction, the higher the dissolved oxygen concentration. Oxygen measurement by luminescence is therefore a physical measurement based on time.
