Le plantoir permet aussi bien de remplacer des pieds de vigne manquants dans des parcelles existantes ou de réaliser des plantations de nouvelles parcelles. Il est tout aussi efficace pour planter des pieds de vigne sans racine. Le plantoir fonctionne avec tout type de terrain mais il doit être utilisé dans un sol préalablement travaillé. L’ouverture de l’outil dans le sol se fait sans forcer grâce à son système d’ouverture parallélogramme, qui peut en plus etre reglé à sa convenance.
